Building Agility equipment is not as difficult as it seems. Just get some PVC pipe and all the fittings and, with a little imagination, away you go. First cut the pieces to the proper length according to your plans. Remove the burs and set out all the pieces. Make certain that all the pieces line up and glue them together. All put together it should look something like this. Add some coloured tape for design and marking. Build two or three and you have a broad jump. Add other designs and you are on your way to having your own agility course. Then comes the fun part - training the dogs. ;D

I tried to make my own agility course, but I didn't want to spend any money before knowing if it would work with my dog, so I just looked around the house. I set up my little course using any junk I could find. For the jumps, half green branches stuck into the ground with the prongs broken off a little way from the main branch and the horizontal bar set on the prongs, and for something to jump on, I used a stiff box (upside down). Chessie went through easy enough; when I told her to, but otherwise she didn't get the point of it. I haven't taken any pictures of it yet, since it was just a try-out, but maybe I'll take some if I can get it set up all nice and neat, and get Chessie to go through without me standed right beside her .
